CMwD YAN Mission Statement
The Central Midwest District Young Adult Network is a group of young adults ages 18-35 working to build community and to foster growth of the Unitarian Universalist Young Adult movement in the Central Midwest District. We seek to cultivate and integrate the presence and experience of young adults into UU congregations. We affirm and promote the principles of Unitarian Universalism and are an intentionally welcoming, anti-oppressive and growing community. Stay Connected in the CMwD! Do you see the need for greater dialogue within our communities?
Do you see an abuse of power in our country?
Do you look for answers and seem only to find more questions?
Then join us for a weekend of social action and interfaith discussion on May 21-23 at Chicago’s Third Unitarian Church! By volunteering at the Greater Chicago Food Depository, examining power structures that impact our communities and engaging in artistic mediation, we we’ll empower each other to become the change we wish to see in the world.
Make sure to bring comfy overnight gear, the snacks you can’t live without—and some retro duds for Saturday night’s 80s prom!

Opus is the annual spiritual retreat of the Continental Unitarian Universalist Young Adult Network. We are an intentional community of seekers exploring liberal religion, social justice and diversity. This year, we will explore and honor our roots--as a religious community, a young adult network and as individuals. We will also find ways to spread our wings and move into the future as a movement of inspired and empowered citizens of the world.
We want to share a respectful, transparent environment where everyone between 18 and 35 years old are welcomed and encouraged to participate.
Our rustic venue may create accessibility issues for otherwise-abled persons, but we will work to accommodate all needs as best we can. Tents are welcome, but not required.
