Welcome to the CMwD Young Adult Network

CMwD YAN Mission Statement
The Central Midwest District Young Adult Network is a group of young adults ages 18-35 working to build community and to foster growth of the Unitarian Universalist Young Adult movement in the Central Midwest District. We seek to cultivate and integrate the presence and experience of young adults into UU congregations. We affirm and promote the principles of Unitarian Universalism and are an intentionally welcoming, anti-oppressive and growing community.

Join us for a modern twist on an anti-racism/anti-oppression weekend. We will focus on racial, gender, and sexual orientation prejudice; where they arise from and what can we do as individuals to try and improve what is going on around us. By each going on a journey of individuation to find how we want to define ourselves and what societal norms we are willing to allow be applied to ourselves we will search for a path beyond oppression. If you are ready to start this journey together then join us for a weekend of social action and personal growth on May 4-6 at Springfield’s Abraham Lincoln Unitarian Universalist Congregation! By volunteering with Empower Women in Africa, examining underlying societal structures that create prejudice and engaging in group discussions and artistic mediation, we we’ll empower each other to become the change we wish to see in the world.
You are invited to spend the weekend meeting with young adults from around the Midwest doing social justice, attending workshops, enjoying contemporary worship and good food with old & new friends. Participants may sleep at the church or make other arrangements for overnight lodging. Make sure to bring comfy overnight gear, the snacks you can’t live without—and something to share at Saturday night’s coffee house! This event is open to individuals between the ages of 18-35. Registration fees are on a rolling scale from $40-90. Super broke? Apply for a scholarship!
